Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield is a club from the Liniers neighborhood in Buenos Aires, founded in 1910. Known as 'El Fortín', the club experienced its golden years in the 1990s under the legendary coach Carlos Bianchi. The 1994 Copa Libertadores is the greatest international trophy in the club's history.

History

Club Atlético Vélez Sársfield became one of the powers of Argentine football in the 1990s, winning the Argentine Championship four consecutive times between 1993 and 1996. In 1994, it won the Copa Libertadores and then the Intercontinental Cup, defeating Milan on penalties. Coach Carlos Bianchi and players such as Roberto Trotta and Omar Asad are legends of that glorious period. In the 2000s, the club remained competitive and revealed talents to world football.
