Viktoria Plzeň
Viktoria Plzeň is a Czech club from the city of Plzeň, founded in 1911, which became one of the greatest forces in the country's football in the 21st century. It played its matches at the Doosan Arena and competed regularly in European competitions.
History
Viktoria Plzeň was founded in 1911 in the city of Plzeň, in the Bohemia region, and for decades had a modest presence on the national scene. The turnaround came from the 2000s onwards, with investments in the club's structure and the construction of the Doosan Arena, a stadium with a capacity close to 11,700 people. In the 2010-11 season, the club won its first Czech league title. It repeated the feat in 2012-13, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2017-18 and 2021-22, accumulating six national championships by 2022 and breaking the hegemony of Sparta Prague and Slavia Prague. On the international scene, Plzeň competed in the UEFA Champions League group stage for the first time in 2011-12, in the group with Barcelona, Milan and BATE Borisov, and participated in the competition again in other seasons.
