History
Vila Nova Futebol Clube was founded on July 29, 1943, in Goiânia, and quickly established itself as one of the main forces in Goiás football, forming with Goiás the main state derby. At the state level, the Tiger accumulated more than a dozen titles in the Campeonato Goiano, with emphasis on the victories in the 1960s and 1970s, a period when it dominated local football alongside its rivals. Nationally, the club built a unique mark: it is the greatest champion in the history of Series C of the Brazilian Championship, with titles in 1996, 2005 and 2015, a feat that no other Brazilian club has matched. Vila Nova plays its matches at Estádio Onésio Brasileiro Alvarenga, the OBA, and maintains one of the most passionate fan bases in Brazil's Center-West region, alternating participations between Series B and Series C of national football.
