Esporte Clube Vitória da Conquista
Esporte Clube Vitória da Conquista is the main football club in southwestern Bahia, representing the second largest city in the state. It competed in the Brazilian Championship Series C and is a reference in Bahian football.
History
Founded in 1972 in the city of Vitória da Conquista, the fourth largest in the state of Bahia, the club emerged to represent a region historically underserved by high-level football. From the start, it won the passion of Vitória da Conquista fans with fierce, strongly regionally-rooted football. The nickname 'Bode' refers to goat breeding, a significant economic activity in the Bahian backlands, and to the resilient spirit of the people of the state's southwest. The supporters adopted the symbol with pride, making it part of local culture. In the following decades, Vitória da Conquista became a constant presence in the Bahian Championship, facing giants like Esporte Clube Bahia and Vitória de Salvador. Its campaigns in the Northeast Cup and in the Brazilian Championship Series D and Series C were important milestones for football in the Bahian interior. The Lomanto Júnior Stadium, located in the heart of the city, is home to supporters who turn matches into true popular celebrations. The club remains a regional pride and voice of football practiced far from major centers.
