History
Founded in 1922 in the city of Guimarães, the birthplace of Portugal, the club established itself as one of the main forces outside the Lisbon-Porto axis. It has historically competed in the Primeira Liga and has represented Portugal in European competitions. In recent decades, the club has won relevant national cups and became a constant presence in UEFA competitions, valuing the development of young players. The D. Afonso Henriques stadium, overlooking Guimarães Castle, is one of the most symbolic venues in Portuguese football.
