History

Founded in 1910, Vitória Futebol Clube is one of the historic clubs in Portuguese football, representing the city of Setúbal. Throughout the twentieth century, the club established itself as a competitive force in the Portuguese first division, alternating seasons of prominence with periods of financial instability. The club's peak came in the 1960s to 1970s, when Vitória de Setúbal won Portuguese Cup titles and competed in European competitions, facing major teams from the continent. Bonfim Stadium, with its peculiar architecture utilizing an old cliff, became one of the most iconic venues in Portuguese football. Despite recurring financial difficulties that led it to lower divisions at various times, Vitória de Setúbal maintains the tradition and passion of its fans, being a symbol of football in the Setúbal Peninsula region.
