West Bromwich Albion is a traditional club from the English Midlands, founded in 1878 and founding member of the Football League in 1888. The club has a respectable history in English football, with one national title and five FA Cup wins. The Hawthorns, inaugurated in 1900, is the highest football stadium in England above sea level.

History

Founded in 1878, West Brom was one of the creators of the Football League and competed in the first edition of the national championship. The club won its only First Division title in 1920 and the FA Cup five times, including a victory in 1968. In the 1970s, West Brom was a pioneer in signing high-level black players, such as Cyrille Regis, Laurie Cunningham and Brendon Batson, playing an important role against racism in English football.
