History
Widzew Łódź was founded in 1922 and became one of the most traditional clubs in the Polish city of Łódź, historically competing in the Ekstraklasa, the main division of Polish football. The club's peak came in the 1970s and 1980s, a period in which it won national titles and reached the semi-finals of European competitions, with players who stood out in Poland's national team. After periods of financial instability in the 2000s, the club faced relegations and restructurings, but maintained strong support from its fans. In recent years, Widzew Łódź has worked to return to the elite of Polish football, rescuing part of its historical tradition.
