Wrexham AFC
Welsh club founded in 1864, one of the oldest professional football clubs in the world. Gained worldwide notoriety from 2021 after being purchased by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, starring in the documentary 'Welcome to Wrexham'.
History
Wrexham AFC was founded in 1864 and is considered the third oldest professional football club in the world still in operation, historically playing in the National League and lower divisions of English football, despite being a Welsh club. In November 2021, the club was acquired by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, generating enormous international impact. The management brought investments, global visibility and the documentary 'Welcome to Wrexham', which follows the daily life of the club. Under the new management, Wrexham won the National League title in 2022-23, returning to the Football League after 15 years, and achieved promotion to League One in the following season (2023-24), consolidating a historic sequence of consecutive promotions.
