Ypiranga FC is the most traditional club in the north of Rio Grande do Sul, founded in 1924 in Erechim. Canarão is a symbol of the region and has competed in the Brazilian Championship in Series B and C, proudly representing the gaucho interior.

History

Ypiranga Football Club was founded in 1924 in the city of Erechim, in the far north of Rio Grande do Sul, quickly becoming the main football club in the entire region. Canarão, as it is affectionately called by fans, built throughout a century a history full of achievements and memorable moments in gaucho football. The Coaracy da Mata Fonseca Stadium, popularly known as Coração, is the club's fortress and hosts thousands of supporters in the most important matches. With a passionate and loyal fan base, Ypiranga is one of the greatest popular phenomena in football in the gaucho interior, competing intensely with other clubs in the serrana and Alto Uruguai regions. In recent decades, Ypiranga has expanded its national projection by competing in Series C of the Brazilian Championship in multiple editions, coming close to promotion to Series B on some occasions. The club also frequently participates in the Gaucho Championship, where it faces giants like Grêmio and Internacional, showing that football in the gaucho interior has the quality to compete with the state's giants.
